GetYourGuide, an online travel start-up based out of Germany, has received an investment from SoftBank’s Vision Fund, on Thursday, 16th May.

The online travel company said that it would use the amount raised to expand its footprint internationally and would also add more options for its user to its platform.

A company’s spokesperson said in a statement that the company is a Unicorn with a valuation of over $1 billion, however, he declined to comment on the exact market value of the company. GetYourGuide now joins N26 and Deliveroo in Europe’s unicorn club.

The company is based out of Berlin and is uniquely placed when compared to other online travel sites. The platform shows its users on only the things to when they arrive at the destination.

Johannes Reck, the CEO of the Travel company stated that it shows users more about the places to visit rather than only flights and hotels. It was founded in 2009 and since then has sold over 25 million tickets to users all around the world.

The CEO also added that the startup would add vacation features into its app which would describe the places to visit, events and transportation.
